EFEKTIVITAS PENGGUNAAN MEDIA BOOK CREATOR DENGAN PENDEKATAN DEEP LEARNING DALAM PEMBELAJARAN MENULIS CERPEN SISWA KELAS XII MADRASAH ALIYAH MUHAMMADIYAH LIMBUNG KABUPATEN GOWA

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of using Book Creator media with a Deep Learning approach in teaching short story writing to grade XII students of Madrasah Aliyah Muhammadiyah Limbung. The basis of this study is the low ability of students in writing short stories which is seen from their difficulties in developing ideas, arranging plots, choosing the right words, and expressing their thoughts creatively and orderly. Therefore, innovation in learning methods is very important to improve students' writing skills by utilizing interactive digital technology and an in-depth learning approach. Book Creator media was chosen because it can help students in the process of writing, developing, and presenting their work in a more interesting way, while the Deep Learning approach is applied to increase deeper understanding, critical, creative, and reflective during the learning process. This study applies a quantitative approach with a One-Group Pretest-Posttest Design experiment. Participants in this study included 18 students from class XII. B who were selected using a purposive sampling technique. The data collection methods applied included a short story writing test consisting of a pre-test and post-test to assess students' abilities at the beginning and end, observation to monitor learning activities, and documentation as additional data for the study. Analysis of the collected data was carried out using descriptive and inferential statistics, namely the Wilcoxon Signed-Rank test to assess differences in results before and after treatment, and the N-Gain test to measure how effective the improvement in learning outcomes was. The results of the study showed significant progress in students' ability to write short stories after using the Book Creator media with the Deep Learning approach. The average student score on the pre-test was recorded at 59.05, which is included in the low category, while the average score on the post-test increased to 88.83, which is considered very good. Analysis using the Wilcoxon Signed-Rank Test revealed that 17 students showed an increase in scores, 1 student maintained their score, and no students experienced a decrease, indicating a significant difference between the pre-test and post-test results. In addition, the N-Gain value obtained was 0.73 which is considered high, indicating that the application of the Book Creator media with the Deep Learning approach is effective in improving students' ability to write short stories. From the results obtained, it can be concluded that the Book Creator media synergized with the Deep Learning approach can be an innovative, effective, and relevant learning option to improve the short story writing skills of grade XII students at MA Muhammadiyah Limbung. The results of this study are expected to contribute to the development of digital learning media and Indonesian language learning tactics that are more creative, active, and meaningful.
