ANALISIS ID PADA TOKOH UTAMA CERPEN “PESTA SELAMAT DATANG UNTUK DELIAH” KARYA ALVIN RAHMATOLLAH

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the id component (Das Es) in the personality structure of the main character, Deliah, in the short story titled "Pesta Selamat Datang untuk Deliah by Alvin Rahmatollah. This short story is one of the works included in the short story anthology titled Pesta, published by Kompas in 2024. The approach used in this study is the psychoanalytic approach developed by Sigmund Freud, with a specific focus on the id component as the most primitive and foundational aspect of the human personality structure. The method employed is descriptive qualitative, with text analysis technique. The findings reveal that Deliah's id manifests itself through three primary drives: (1) an urgent need for pleasure and escape from boredom; (2) a deep desire for attention and social recognition; and (3) a suppressed longing for romantic connection. All three id drives operate according to the pleasure principle, which demands immediate gratification without regard for reality. The excessive dominance of the id within Deliah ultimately triggers a destructive fantasy mechanism with fatal consequences for her physical condition.
