REAKTUALISASI KOMUNIKATIF DAN PRAGMATIS DALAM PRAKTIK KEDWIBAHAASAAN MASYARAKAT MODERN
Abstract
This study aims to objectively analyze sociolinguistic functions, types of bilingual qualifications, code-switching and code-mixing patterns, and sociolinguistic implications in the form of linguistic interference in modern society's speech in digital media. By applying a qualitative descriptive method through a synchronic sociolinguistic approach, this study examines the primary data source in the form of a verbal corpus from a video talk show (podcast) on the YouTube channel Raditya Dika with Dr. Gia Pratama uploaded on January 2, 2026. The data were analyzed in depth using the interactive model of Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña through orthographic transcription techniques and comprehensive contextual discourse analysis. The results of the analysis indicate the dominance of pragmatic-communicative sociolinguistic functions in the digital interaction space. Speakers are proven to combine linguistic codes flexibly to reduce social distance, create psychological comfort for their interlocutors, and emphasize the intellectual identity of modern urban society. However, this intensive language contact also triggers the emergence of pathological implications of language in the form of massive intra-sentence code-mixing, hybrid lexical interference that deviates from standard rules, and accelerated language shift that threatens the existence of regional languages in Indonesia. This study concludes that modern bilingual practices move dynamically beyond rigid linguistic barriers and demand an adaptive and inclusive language curriculum policy at the formal academic level.
